ELGIN, IL – October 8, 2007
West Point Gardens was honored with 10 prestigious Key Awards for architectural excellence and model home merchandising at the recent 35th annual awards event sponsored by the Home Builders Association of Greater Chicago.
The awards have become the industry standard for innovation in design and technology. The large number of West Point home designs represented among the winners highlights the distinctive character of both the single-family homes and townhomes in the popular Traditional Neighborhood Design community.
“The Key Awards are among the most coveted honors in the homebuilding industry, and we are gratified that nine of our 11 model homes received awards in various size categories,” said Pat Curran, president of West Point Builders, the developer. “Our goal at West Point Gardens has been to offer home designs and a community atmosphere that is fresh and different, and this recognition emphasizes our dedication to innovation and quality.” The awards are given in 12 different divisions and are judged according to strict criteria by teams of expert judges. Recognition was also given to Bloom and Fiorino Architects, Inc., designers of the homes, and Eleni Interiors, Inc., for interior merchandising for the model homes. Awards given to West Point Gardens homes include:
- A Bronze Key Award for architectural excellence to the single-family Wellington
- A Silver Key Award for architectural excellence to the single-family Amherst

Situated in the desirable Randall Road corridor on the west side of Elgin, West Point Gardens is a 173-acre community that will include 342 single-family homes in two series as well as 128 townhomes. Eleven models are open for viewing, and a selection of single-family homes and townhomes is available for quick delivery.
In addition to architecturally inspired homes, the Traditional Neighborhood Design contributes to an inviting nostalgic character and distinctive lifestyle. The room-sized front porches and garages in the rear create a welcoming streetscape, and private enclosed rear gardens are an innovation for which West Point Builders has been honored.
“West Point Gardens gives buyers the chance to enjoy many of the characteristics of classic small towns along with the newest innovations in design, materials and conveniences,” Curran said. “Buyers can just move in and enjoy the best of the past along with 21st century comfort.”
The 12-acre Meier Park is a community focal point, and a pathway system as well as sidewalks enable residents to walk to the park as well as a planned 20-acre retail center, schools and the Fox Valley Bike Path.
Meier Park includes a covered pavilion and a gazebo, baseball and soccer fields, basketball courts, playground equipment, seating throughout the park and lighted tennis courts. A large open, grassy area and lavish landscaping makes the park a scenic oasis as well as a huge backyard for residents.
Smaller parks also add beauty to the neighborhood, and the private enclosed back yard gardens provide a private retreat. The gardens include a concrete patio, privacy fence, sodded lawn and landscaping. In addition, the 11 model homes display theme gardens, available for purchase either in part or in their entirety.
